Cannot start Firestarter

I recently installed firestarter by yum, but when I try to run it I
get this error:

Failed to start the firewall.
The device eth0 is not ready.
Please check your network device settings and make sure your Internet
connection is active.

Well, I'm sending this email, so assume that I AM connected to the internet...
This computer has two network cards, but eth0 IS the one connected to
my modem. eth1 is not connected to anything at the moment. Other than
that, nothing unusual on this computer.
