Kmail and newsgroups

Kmail is just an email program. It does not include newsgroup functionality 
(unlike Outlook Express from M$).  Knode is the main application for 
newsgroups in KDE. It's the default news reader. That's what you may be 
looking for.  

However, you may use Kontact which integrates Kmail & Knode among other 
applications.
