XMCD problems

I just loaded XMCD on my Fedora3 system (from xmcdbin.tar.gz), 
and it APPEARS to 'work', there's just no sound (sigh)

Alsa-mixer is set with nothing muted and everything up off of zero.

And I DO get sound from mythtv... ( mythtv is NOT running)

So, any thoughts on whats wrong?
A Module not loaded?
Trying to write to the wrong device?
There are no messages to the messages file, so no help there...
