keeping good time

Does fedora normally use ntpd for keeping the clock correct?
Something else?
ntpd is the only automated mechanism of which I am aware,
but ps -C ntpd didn't turn up any process until I started ntpd
by hand.
Presumably that is not the best way to do it.
What is?
