But it's important *at what point* you do it -- if you do it before the
installer writes out the partition table, I wouldn't be surprised if it were
overwritten.

It's also simply possible that you didn't sync the filesystem before
rebooting....

man fstab-sync. I don't think /home would be marked as managed.
