I have seen some Sun lunchboxes that don't have real mac addresses. I 
found out coz the battery went flat, the NVRAM lots its marbles and the 
box wouldn't boot. A workaround is to go into the slushware and enter a 
  MAC address.
  I recall using something like 00820c00ffee.
