I have been running FC3 on a T42 (2378FZU) since April of this year. I
am running Apache, Tomcat, MySQL, PHP, Eclipse, and VMware all without
any problems. Wireless networking works great with NetworkManger
installed. If you ever need to use dial-up at full speed you will have
to spend $14 or so for the Linuxant modem driver. This is the third
Thinkpad that I have owned and I must say that I continue to be amazed
at how tough and reliable the are. All in all a T42 should be a good
choice for Linux.

If you get a T42 don't hesitate to ask for help setting it up.
