problem in configuring modem in fedora

To make your conexant modem work, you have to look at
www.linuxant.com<http://www.linuxant.com>for a commercial driver.
There are no open source driver for those
winmodems.

Maybe you should buy a PC Card modem, usually they are very well supported
in linux.
