But livna also lacks all of the things that page discusses.  There are
no iso images to download, and in fact nothing that you should be
downloading and installing directly.

But there is no equivalent to any of those things.

No, Fedora needs that page because it has something to download and
install directly.  Livna only fits in as an 'additional repository' in
the same context as extras or jpackage as mentioned here:
http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/yum/sn-using-repositories.html
If you are doing something with a web browser at livna other
than finding the rpm command that installs the yum config for
you, you've already made a mistake.  And yes, the site might be
a little more clear about that...  If you are looking randomly for
software to install, you should understand that there is a lot in
extras and only a little at livna, and once yum is configured for
both it won't matter where it is.
