gateway not set by dhcp

Are there any other interfaces on your system that start on boot?
If yes, you may have to specify that eth0 is to provide the default route.
Adding "DEFROUTE=yes" to the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
should do that...
