Little Linux tip, if you're not sure what a file is, use the file
command:
####sshd_config file###
~]$ file /etc/ssh/sshd_config
/etc/ssh/sshd_config: ASCII English text
### or an executable ###
~]$ file /usr/bin/ssh
/usr/bin/ssh: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV),
for GNU/Linux 2.2.5, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped
### or a gif for example ###
~]$ file /var/www/icons/php.gif
/var/www/icons/php.gif: GIF image data, version 89a, 120 x 64
Its not perfect, but it'll give you a good idea.
