Subject: [Logwatch-Announce] Logwatch 7.0 Released!

Logwatch 7.0 has been released!

   ftp://ftp.kaybee.org/pub/redhat/RPMS/noarch/logwatch-7.0-2.noarch.rpm
   ftp://ftp.kaybee.org/pub/linux/logwatch-7.0.tar.gz

Bug reports greatly welcome; send to the usual logwatch-devel at
logwatch.org.

Thanks to all who contributed code, and as usual to Mike for his work
in getting the cvs repository up to date, and also to Bjorn for his help
in getting this release out (and most recent releases for that matter).
Without Mike and Bjorn we might still be back on version 4.x!

***********************************************************************

This release introduces the following changes:

- logwatch now complies with the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard.
Many of the file paths have been modifed. Specifically, the
scripts and default configurations now reside in
/usr/share/logwatch instead of the default /etc/log.d.

- The /etc/logwatch directory is now used to configure logwatch.
If you've modified variables in /etc/log.d/conf to customize
the output of logwatch, you should read the
      /usr/share/doc/logwatch*/HOWTO-Customize-Configuration
file to learn how to do that in this and future releases.
The files under /etc/logwatch should not be updated by logwatch
in future releases, and therefore can be used for local
  customization.

If you run the default logwatch distribution, the default
logwatch distribution should continue to work on your systems
without the need to modify the /etc/logwatch directory.

Note that /etc/logwatch/scripts will, in the future, allow you
to locally override or add scripts. This has not yet been
implemented but is slated for the next release.

- The following services have been added:
      dovecot, slon, qmail-pop3d, qmail-pop3ds, qmail-send, and
      qmail-smtpd.

- Many bugs have been fixed, and many existing services have been
  enhanced, some quite extensively.
