You should be able to telnet into the imap port:

telnet mail.publimotion.com.mx 143 

or 

telnet localhost 143 ( if everything is on only one machine )
 
and if the IMAP mail server is set up and able to service requests 
you should see a header returned something like:

* OK IMAP server ready
