Just to pass on testing with 1024x768 on my setup. I ended up with 72HZ
for 1024x768 and 75HZ with 1280x1024. The only choices for me was 75HZ
for both resolutions through gnome-display-properties. My monitor
section has a very wide range for vertical. (excerpt below). Intel 865G
card.
