harddrives not detected by BIOS

 Thanks David, it turns out that neither drives are broken, I unplugged
both, plugged them back in and everything seems to be working. An fsck was
useful though, it fixed a couple errors. (Not that I understand why a sudden
switching off can cause the drives to go undetected by the BIOS, but anyway,
things work.)
