Pilot appears to use two ports (FC4)

Pilot's usually emulate two ports via USB, one for hotsync, the other
for networking. Palm's usually use /dev/ttyUSB1 for hotsync.

The other thing is that hotsync is seriously broken with udev. Palm's
wait only a few seconds for the connection after the hotsync button is
pressed - not long enough for udev to create the device nodes. Best you
  mknod ttyUSB1 c 188 1
somewhere.
