FC-3 install problem on AMD

Try to see if Knoppix 4.0 is running.
Use System Rescue CD x86  0.2.15 and look at
the partitions.  qtparted useful. Erase all ?
I tried dual booting Windows 98 and FC4
( DVD SAMS Teach Yourself  All in One)
but it failed.  Only FC4 and full automatic : OK
If failed many times; try nodma. (dma is too fast)
PC : AMD K7 Athlon 2200+  Motherboard Mercury KVM266PM-U
512 MB  .  Even a LaCie external disk USB2 80 MB
is readable , but only the FAT32 partition.
Linux does not like the NTFS patition.
