Bad sound with AC97 and AMD 64 X2 (Gigabyte K8N Pro SLI)

In gnome click on Desktop, Preferences, then sound uncheck the enable 
sound sever startup.  I think that is what solved my problem.  Now if I 
can just stop my desktop from becoming corrupted. every time I boot into 
fedora.
