Bad sound with AC97 and AMD 64 X2 (Gigabyte K8N Pro SLI)

I have the same board. If you read the reviews, they talk about the
lousy sound for the onboard.
I use it as a server so never even bothered trying the sound.
But yes, purchasing a SB card would help.
