I use 
dvdbackup -M -i/dev/dvd -o/mnt/DVD_BUCKUP

mkisofs -V MY_DVD_LABEL -dvd-video -v
-o /mnt/DVD_BUCKUP.iso  /mnt/DVD_BUCKUP/DVD_TITLE


where:
/dev/dvd  your dvd divce name.
/mnt/DVD_BUCKUP is the output dir.

then use k3b to burn it
