Having problems compiling kernel 2.6.xxxx

Hello,
	I am trying to compile a kernel with ham options set.  I have tried the
make configs allno, allyes, allmod and x.  I get the same error in
kernels 2.6.11 ,2.6.12-1.1447_FC4-i686 and 2.6.12-1.1456_FC4-i686.

	The error printout is 
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `init/main.o', needed
by`init/built-in.o'.  Stop.
make: *** [init] Error 2

	I use to compile kernels in earlier days but somethings change and it
looks like I missed the boat.  I would appreciate and thoughts on this
compile error.
