Fedora and MD5

Dear friends,
As you know; some applications like routing packages
try to use MD5 signatures in order to provide a ligher
level of security specially in message authenticity
process.
I have implemented this structure on BSD machines,yet
I could not do so on fedora(may be due to some
necessary modifications in Kernel).
Please let me know if you have any experience in
implementing MD5 signatures on Linux/Fedora machines.
