I don't use Thunderbird, but here's what I'd try it after taking a
look at the filter setup. (Thunderbird 1.0.7 from FC4.)
In Message Filters, select Customize at the bottom of the field match
dropdown. Add Content-Type. Then set a match for text/html and
choose an appropriate action. Moving it to the Trash folder looks
like a good choice, though I'd be curious how the "Delete from POP
server option works. If it deletes before downloading and you use
POP, that'd be a nice option to kill all straight html messages.
Please do post here if you find a good way to do this, as I'll keep it
in mind for some of my Thunderbird using friends.
