Have you not found Kwifimanager yet?  I won't say its the bees knees, 
but its quite nice at what it does do, scanning and identifying radio 
networks.  It also can leave an icon in the tray telling you the signal 
strength etc.

People having trouble with vz bouncing email to me should add the word
'online' between the 'verizon', and the dot which bypasses vz's
stupid bounce rules.  I do use spamassassin too. :-)
