As a bit of a tangent, if you need to convert a file from dos line
ends to unix line ends, check out the dos2unix package.  There are 2
binaries there, dos2unix and mac2unix.  They are cryptically named, I
know.  You get three guesses what they do. :)

And if you ever need to go the other way, there's a unix2dos package
as well.  Not to mention various editor macros you can use; command
line tricks using perl, sed, tr, or other utilities.
