Boot "netprofile=" No Longer Works

This is - or was - the best alternative to NM. However, it no longer
seems to boot with the designated network profile.
Could this be related to the vanilla kernel?
"kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.16.11 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
netprofile=wireless"
