Hi,
At my office, they run a Windows network, and I run Linux FC5 on my laptop.
I switched from FC4 to FC5 a few days ago.
Using FC4, I was able to mount Network shares with smb4k, and it worked like
a charm.
Now, using FC5. I can't any longer to mount them using the same way.
I tried to use smbfs and now cifs, but both failed.
I tried to change the config a little bit, and choose for mount "smbfs".
Then when I click on a share to mount it, I have the following message :
mount : unknown filesystem type 'smbfs'
(I guess smbfs support has been removed from the kernel of fc5)
then I switched to cifs for mount. Once done, when I want to mount a share,
I have : mount error 5 = Input/output error
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page ....
I read that man page, but I'm a total newbie at that, and I don't understand
why it doesn't work as before.
I tried to use one of the kernel provided with FC5, and as it didn't work, I
compiled a kernel (the lastest 2.6.16.11) but with the same result :-(
Help would be appreciated, specially by my boss as I can't access my agenda,
my phone calls, etc....
Francois
