On which Fedora Core are you? FC4?
I'd suggest you run (as root):
yum update
It'll upgrade the kernel (and everything else) to the latest available
(stable) version. Hopefully it'll solve your problem.

In general, by looking around in the LKML archive this bug was closed in
2.6.12... I doubt that this fix will be back ported to 2.6.11.
(Considering the fact that Fedora 5 is not at 2.6.16)
