Needed gtk2 function: recover a widget by it's name

Hi,

I'm writing a glade-2 application and have the problem that glade-2 does not generate any code 
giving access to the widgets in an application.

Therefore I need the possibility to identify a widget by its name (this names were used when 
developing the gui by glade-2).

I would need a function similar as:

GtkWidget gtk_get_widget_by_name (GtkWidget root_widget /* the root of the widget tree*/, char 
*name /*the widgets name*/)
