Control-mouse click intercepted by gnome move window

Hi all,

Some setting has gone haywire on my FC5 system; I can no longer make
non-contiguous selections with the mouse in apps like gnumeric and
gthumb. Control-click is intercepted by Gnome and activates the Move
window function which is assigned to Alt-F7; a small green arrow is
displayed next to the cursor.

I have a feeling this may be related to an error message I got shortly
after installing FC5 which warned me that Gnome and X were using
different keyboard layouts, and I have not been able to figure out how
to fix that. I think the problem arose because of some previous
settings in my FC4 ~/ directory.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?
