There's a huge long thread at 
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=171873
but that was supposed to have been fixed around Christmas.  Something to do 
with gcc4 optimisation, it seems.  I think tomorrow I should look at going 
back to 1.9.
