Will you recommend fedora to a newcomer?

Simple to someone who's familiar with Linux. But a MS Windows user is
used to having things auto install, or install with a simple click of
a mouse. Not following instructions to copy something to a particular
folder, or unzip and untar, then rpm -ihv ... Did you look at the
instructions to install Java? And if something doesn't work, then
what? I am not a newbie, but I still have a whole lot to learn. Many
people on this list are light years ahead of me. But despite that I
find it daunting at times. So simple is relative. Simple to a Linux
user who is used to the days of less user friendly environment. But
not simple to a user who grew up on Windows and if things don't work
with a double click of a mouse they are at a complete loss.

FC5 has some user friendly aspects to it. But it's not Windows. And
if you have a user that needs that degree of user friendliness, then
best identify his needs and find a distro that has as much of what
he/she needs already included. Otherwise it's a recipe for failure
and bound to cast Linux back in the dark ages in the eyes of that
user.
