firefox and --no-xshm option

Hi,

having installed FC5 and the most recent firefox firefox-1.5.0.1-9.
If using the firefox in the layout:

	firefox --no-xshm <some url>

the firefox does not open the url, but the home page given in the 
preferences. Only if omitting the "--no-xshm" option, the url will be 
displayed.

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Using the vanilla kernel 
2.6.16.5.
