automount, ldap and gnome?

i have an up-to-date fc5 system that uses automount to mount /home
directories and some other public lan shares via nfs4.  the entire
automounter config is contained in a separate openldap server.  i am
able to mount everything i need without a problem, but when i log into
gnome, my logs begin to fill with the following:

i do not understand why something is trying to automount all these
things that i don't need.  also, whatever it is will continue ad
infinitum to query ldap for these values.= and slows down this system
and the ldap server.  could any of you fine folks point me in the right
direction?  your help is sincerely appreciated.
