apache virtual hosts and mod_redirect

Hi, I am trying to redirect traffic from the root address at my default
server (of two name-based virtual hosts) to /blog/. I.e. I would like
traffic for www.depaulacs.org/ to go automatically to
www.depaulacs.org/blog/. But I don't want to affect anything to do with
the second virtual host. Here is what I have tried. Can someone point
out where I've gone wrong? I am running Fedora Core 5, Apache 2.2.2.
Thanks!
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName www.depaulacs.org
ServerAlias depaulacs.org
ServerAdmin phorst at speakeasy.net
DocumentRoot /var/www/html
ErrorLog logs/error_log
CustomLog logs/access_log common
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^/$ /blog/ [R]
</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName www.sklar-blake.com
ServerAlias sklar-blake.com
ServerAdmin phorst at speakeasy.net
DocumentRoot /var/www/html/tom
ErrorLog logs/www.sklar-blake.com-error_log
CustomLog logs/www.sklar-blake.com-access_log common
</VirtualHost>
