It appears that you are using a static IP address, which is 192.168.1.2

Your network card seems to be working fine. I'm thinking that the error
could be due to a cable fault (is your network switch functioning
properly?), or it could be that you have IPv6 enabled (see below)

Are you using IPv6? If not you should probably disable it.
To disable, edit /etc/modprobe.conf
Append the following lines:
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off
Reboot.
Do a 'ifconfig -a' again to confirm that the sit0 interface entry is no
longer there.
