Well, I don't remember that menu item, and I've used KDE for as
long as I've used Linux, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist -
I'm perfectly capable of glossing over something many times
before noticing it. I'm just wondering if you're possibly
thinking of the "KDE Components" item, which can be accessed
via "KDE Menu button/Settings/KDE Components" or alternatively,
through KDE's Control Center - there's a preferred email client
selection in there, but it won't accomplish what the OP desired,
which is to make 'mailto:'s in Firefox pop a kmail window. Even
in a KDE desktop environment, there appears to still be some
things controlled by gnome settings, which has to do with the
Fedora project's baseline preferred way of doing things.
