ide-scsi problems

If I do hdc=noprobe I don't see any of these devices, not
even /dev/cdrom. 

If I do hdc=ide-scsi I get these devices:

Maybe that explains why I get 6 icons when a disc automounts, but why is
it creating all of these and not just one? Which one do I point vmware
player at?
