One more point - if you are using X forwarding in ssh, you do not
need to run "xhost +" on the local host, unless you are running ssh
as a different user then the one logged in under X. If you are going
to run it, run something like "xhost +localhost" or
"xhost +<username>" instead. You probably do not need the extra
security on a home network, but doing things securely is a good
habit to get into.
