Dual Core CPU intermittent mouse lag issue

I have recently upgraded my machine running FC5 to a dual core AMD
chip.  Everything seems to work fine apart from an issue with the
mouse pointer - after a random period of time the mouse pointer just
starts lagging - ie. I move the mouse, then there's some delay, then
the mouse pointer moves.  The only way to get it working again seems
to be a reboot, simply restarting X.Org doesn't have any effect.

I suspect this is something to do with interrupt handling - I am
passing the 'lapic' argument to the kernel in grub, is there anything
else I should be doing?
