I don't know about terse. Chapters 3 and 4 of the CUPS Software Users
Manual tells you all one needs to know about using lpoptions to set
options. However, you need to read the two chapters together.

However, I had a mind blip. The best way to set printer options is
through the CUPS web interface (localhost:631) , then go to the printer
and use the configuration tab.
