Custom rpm install problems

Hi

I appreciate this is off topic,but I thought I might get some feedback
from the experts here.

I've just compiled perl and installed it in /usr/local/

I'm now install mod_perl, however my problem is at this point. When I run

rpm -Uvh mod-perl*

I get the following:

error: Failed dependencies:
        perl(BSD::Resource) is needed by MX-Mod_perl
        perl(Devel::Symdump) is needed by MX-Mod_perl

When I do a locate I can find the appropriate files (e.g .pm's), so I
can't see why its not installing.

Could someone please help me understand this?

Thanks in advance
Dan
