FC-5 my display (fonts) looks terrible

Open KDE Control Center => Appearance and Themes => Fonts

uncheck "use anti-aliasing for fonts", click apply, then recheck it and
apply.  Log out and back into your desktop.  This is needed due to
changes in the font rendering in KDE 3.5.4.
