cd dir && command

Hi ALL

I am referring to http://www.pixelbeat.org/cmdline.html

I have a query I did executed the above command

For example

[root at e root]# pwd
/root
[root at e root]# cd /home && ls
kaushal  mydefs  newbuild  ram  test
[root at e home]#

It didnot returned to the current directory I mean /root instead it
went to /home

I am doing wrong somewhere
