For cnn mplayer works perfectly. I don't have tv cable, so that's my only
source of tv news. It'd better work.

At any rate, there is a large overlap of multimedia libraries among
mplayer/xine/vlc/ogg, so you can install all of them afterall, and try
them yourself.
