Interesting problem indeed!  Being that you were able to boot on another
machine, it would seem that the disks are OK.  Assuming that you used
the same drive when you booted the FC3 DVD indicates that your machine
is set up properly.  You appear to be using the proper media for your
drive, the only suggestion I have would be to try burning a disk at
slower speed.  It's a bit of a long shot but others have reported that
this fixed problems.

Just one question.  When you tried booting ZOD, did you see any
indication of the system trying to boot from it? I presume that the
drive spun up and some kind of message on screen saying something like
Booting from CR-Rom before continuing to boot into Linux, Windows or
whatever? Or does your system just stop and not boot at all?

You might want to go to the NEC website.  It's possible this is a known
issue and possibly a firmware update is available too.
