Hmm - I really only have New Mail as a notify sound.  The delay is 
particularly noticeable at lunch time when I play kpatience.  The winning 
dialogue comes way before the sound - and it used to be simultaneous.

For the most part it is perception - I can't really measure it, but it does 
feel slower and I can't think why unless an update has changed something.
