Thanks for your help.
The install in Firefox went without a hitch and is using 
/usr/bin/gmplayer , but I can't get mediaplayer on many
sites, what would be a good test site?
The codecs I have installed /usr/lib/win32 are  
W32codecs/essential-20061022.tar.bz2 are .
from mplayerhq
Are these the correct codecs for Fedora 6?
