I always install java to the /opt directory. When I get a new version I
just untar it there, it installs and has the new version number in it's
directory name.
I link that directory to /opt/java which is where all the directories
for the plugins are set to look for, as I first set them up. It makes
upgrading really easy.
I have ~/.mozilla/plugsins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
-> /opt/java/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
See?
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
-> /opt/java/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ libjavaplugin_oji.so
-> /opt/java/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
All three, if you have installed other than firefox, like seamonkey.
You should be covered and it should work... it does on this end. Ric
