/boot/grub/stage1 not read correctly

Hi,
   I'm getting problems with the re-installation of grub.
I did:
chroot /mnt/sysimage
/sbin/grub-install /dev/hda

It is saying that the file /boot/grub/stage1 not read correctly.
Any solution.
